Some of the things that influence teachers and students to use technology in the classroom are the learning tools that technology has to offer. There are so many computer programs and learning games that students can use to learn. There are also programs that help teachers stay organized with themselves and with students in the classroom. One of the ISTE standards that are meaningful to me is number seven. It is called Global Communicator. It is when students use digital tools to broaden their perspectives and enrich their learning by collaborating with others and working effectively in teams locally and globally.  (ISTE Standards for Students) I believe that this one is the most important to me because in today's society it is all about technology. It is imperative that there is the use of technology in the classroom since students use technology every day whether it be with an iPhone, tablet, or computer. An ISTE standard that is outside my current skill set is number two. It is called Computational Thinker. It is when students develop and employ strategies for understanding and solving problems in ways that leverage the power of technological methods to develop and test solutions. (ISTE Standards for Students) This standard is outside of my skillset because I have not really used technology to make algorithms or to solve problems. I have however analyzed data by using Microsoft Excel but it is not something that I thrive in using.
The term Digital Native means to me is the relationship that students have with technology. I agree with the term that is used. I can say that I am a digital native just because I grew up having technology in my home and in the classroom. Technology comes very easy to me and it does not take me long to figure something out that is technology related. I have seen teachers who are considered digital immigrants struggle with technology. Back in high school one of my teachers always was having trouble working for her smart board. I was always helping her out and showing her shortcuts just because a lot of the symbols for things such as in Microsoft Word are the same on everything.
Assignments would get delayed because she was still trying to figure out our school computer program like canvas to upload assignments for submission. Their impact on my learning experience is just being patient with teachers. They are there to help you learn and are not perfect. They make mistakes too. I believe in the future when I am a teacher I will not struggle with technology as much because I am very familiar with it since I grew up in the technological world.

Flipped classrooms are when the students read the material at home of the lesson. The teacher can give helpful YouTube links to give more information on the lesson if they need to. The students then come back into the classroom and apply the knowledge they learned. It helps students learn at their own pace and creates independent learners. In a traditional classroom, the teacher teaches lessons and then tests on their knowledge later. I am personally not a fan of flipped classrooms. I think it is for much older students like high school and college. I believe the traditional classroom should be left for K-8. The digital divide can affect students' success in school because they may not have access to the internet. Their internet maybe really slow and will take hours to watch a lecture video. The student may also not be very educated when it comes to using the skills of the computer.  Some of the causes are the cost of technology, lack of skills, lack of education, and access for ...

The ELA standards that I am most prepared to teach is "They respond to the varying demands of audience, task, purpose, and discipline. I have prior knowledge because of my experience. One ELA technology standard that I would have to learn more about is, "They use technology and digital media strategically and capably". The CPALMS Educator Toolkit is a great resource for teachers. I would definitely use it in my classroom because there are activities already on there for certain subjects. There are also lesson plans that would help teachers as well. The new skills that I acquired working on the Newsletter Design were fitting all of the information on just two pages and using columns to write. I have never done that before so it was very interesting to learn. I loved all the pictures that I was able to put on the newsletter, but I feel I could have put more information on it and if I were to do it again I would put more color in the background and I would do a higher gra...

Assistive and adaptive technologies help students that are disabled that can't always use a mouse, see what is on the computer screen, or hear what the computer is saying. There are specific hardware and software that help students who can't always use the computer fully. It is amazing that there is software out there that help students who can't use a computer fully. Technology is amazing. I don't personally know anyone that has used such technologies. Since I will be teaching first grade, I will be faced with students asking me about adaptive technologies and it is going to be hard to explain to them why a student is using such technology. I know I will face it and overcome it. Technology is so helpful in the classrooms. Since I have been in multiple first grade classrooms, I have seen how technology is very helpful when it comes to learning. I am so excited to have the technology in our classrooms. If the school is able to afford it, I would love to have a smart bo...
