I started using Microsoft Word back in elementary school. I remember having to write a couple papers in the fourth and fifth grade. I mainly use Microsoft Word to write school papers or to take notes in class. I have used it for grad school resumes as well. I have seen teachers use Microsoft Word for syllabi, test study guides, notes, and showing learning outcomes for the day.

In middle school and throughout high school, I was taught how to cite. I did use MLA format when citing so going from learning MLA to APA was a big change for me in college. I remember that anything you took from a website, book, movie, etc. had to be cited or that would be plagiarism. I believe since I am wanting to become a first-grade teacher I will not have to deal with students writing papers and worrying about plagiarism. They are just starting to learn to read at that age.

Copyright can be avoided by the student as long as they know how to cite proper sources when writing a paper. If I see that they are not citing then I will deduct points.

Academic Honesty can be enforced by making sure students are at separate desks when taking tests or creating an online window so that the students can't toggle back and forth between tabs online.

Cyberbullying can be avoided by talking about it to the students in the classroom. Having a whole period of class going over the effects of cyberbullying.

  1. Hi Kayla, I think we have a lot of the same opinions/experiences on these topics! I think to avoid these issues the first step is just being open and talking to your class and stating the facts. I agree you shouldn't be worrying in first grade about plagiarism, which is probably a good thing!

In my plan to use technology for professional development, I will make sure that the lesson I have planned for the day is filled with videos and interactive learning. I don't want to just stand and talk in front of the classroom. I want students to be engaged with technology as they are learning. When I am at a stopping point in my lesson I would like to use a smartboard and have students go up one by one and solve the problem or answer the questions. I also would like to include videos to help them understand what they are learning better. My favorite PowerPoint was using the nonlinear interactive PowerPoint. I made it very creative and used a Disney theme throughout my presentation. I used sounds every time you click if you get it right or wrong. One thing I would've liked to add is more information on nouns, verbs, and adjectives. As I am using PowerPoint, I realize that I am getting more creative with my PowerPoint skills. Below are my two powerpoints! Check out my ...

The school website that I have chosen is my old school that I went to from Pre k to eighth grade. It is called Resurrection Catholic School. The website has not changed since I visited it back in middle school. There are some updates but it is mostly informational updates. There is even still a picture on it when I was in fifth grade. I think they need to do some updating. When you visit the teacher page it tells you all about their staff names and their emails. http://www.rcslakeland.org/ I have never blogged in my life and I think it is pretty cool. Most of our blogs consist of writing how we feel and our opinion about a topic. I really like blogging now. I have learned to be more open and get creative and fun while writing the blog. One of the new skills I acquired form the web evaluation assignment was getting familiar with making tables. When I used a table it was always in Excel and I think it is pretty cool that you can make tables in Microsoft word as well. Something ...

Throughout this course, I have learned many new skills. I loved learning everything. It was so beneficial to have this course. I will continue using the skills that I acquired in my future teaching career. I have always liked to take photos in my free time of nature. I would love to learn to edit the pictures so that maybe I can take pictures as a side job. Editing on my phone of the pictures I take isn't the best way. I would like to learn on my computer using different software. The only problem is the software is $200. I just need to spend the money and do it because I am very passionate about taking photos. I graduate soon and hopefully, afterwards, I can start learning how to edit photos. Check out my comments on Sierra and Margaux's blogs!
